Whitburn Band is delighted to announce the signing of Beth Hutchison on Cornet.
Beth is from Inverness and started playing at the age of eight.
She joined Highland Future Brass in 2016 not long after it was first formed by Mark Bell, and she progressed to Highland Brass in 2021. Beth was appointed Principal Cornet of the band in January, 2023.
As Principal Cornet, she competed with Highland Brass at the Scottish Championships in the Fourth and Third sections, and performed with the band at the Fourth Section National Finals in Cheltenham.
She has also been a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland for the past four years.
Beth recently relocated to Glasgow to study BEd Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and is now tutored by Peter Franks.
Beth said: “I am really excited to be joining Whitburn Band and l’m looking forward to all the experiences that come with it.”
Charlie Farren, Whitburn Band Chairman, added: “We are delighted to welcome Beth to the band.
“She is an exciting young player, and we are looking forward to her performing with Whitburn at our forthcoming engagements, including playing the anthems at the forthcoming Scotland international rugby games, and then our return to the contest stage at the Scottish Open.”
Whitburn Band is supported by Greyside Developments.
