Good luck Andrew

Whitburn Band would like to wish Andrew McMillan all the best as he moves to England and joins Grimethorpe Band.

Andrew has been a leading soloist with Whitburn across the past five years, after joining the band from Campbeltown Brass.

On Principal Tenor Horn, he won the Scottish Championships with Whitburn four times. He also won the Grand Shield in 2023, a contest where he was named the Best Soloist.

He is a three-time winner of the Best Horn prize at the Scottish championships, a two-time winner of Whitburn’s Player of the Year trophy and was also voted Whitburn’s Players’ Player of the Year in 2022.

Andrew featured as a soloist throughout his time at Whitburn at concerts and recordings, and one of his biggest achievements in this period was performing as the lead soloist throughout the landmark National Theatre of Scotland production of Keli.

Andrew said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time playing with Whitburn.

“I will always be very grateful for my time there and all the friends I have made along the way, and wish the band all the success in the future.”

Charlie Farren, Whitburn Band Chairman, added: “We would like to thank Andrew for his fantastic contribution to Whitburn, and we wish him all the best for the future.” - Whitburn Band is supported by Greyside Developments
